Get out of debt. Romans 13:8, 2 Chron. 1:11-12, Proverbs 10:4 Grow Money Don’t Blow Money. Available Tools Debt. Thermometer, Dave Ramsey’s 7 Baby steps, & The Budget Sheet. ReTHiNK Finances- 3 Ways to work towards Financial Freedom.Ephesians 5:15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wiseTHIS BUCKET IS YOUR FINANCIAL LIFE IT CAN OVERFLOW IN RESOURCES RIGHT NOW. Write the expenses on the side of it. 5 gallon bucket. Drill holes in the side of it when talking. And let the water drain out. Have duct tape and start closing the holes so that more water can be kept. Car; Monthly (Cable / Internet / Student loans / Health Insurance / (it pays to shop around… you can call up your current provider and see what they can do.) $5 basic satellite tv that I canceled because I didn’t use it. ; Fuel / Energy; Home ; FoodThe Water represents our money. And the holes are at different levels and heights and allow us to have more or less. Could use the baptismal or blow up the small VBS pool. Parkinson’s Law- no matter how much money people earn, they tend to spend the entire amount and a little bit more besides. Their expenses rise at the same time as their earnings. Many people are earning today several times what they were earning at their first jobs. But somehow, they seem to need every single penny to maintain their current lifestyles. No matter how much they make, there never seems to be enough.Ecclesiastes 5:11 The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!"Financial independence / freedom comes from violating Parkinson’s Law."Parkinson’s Law explains the trap that most people fall into. This is the reason for debt, money worries and financial frustration. It is only when you develop sufficient willpower to resist the powerful urge to spend everything you make that you begin to accumulate money and move ahead of the crowd.# 1 Way to work towards Financial Freedom #1Slow Down Your Spending: Proverbs 13:7 Some who are poor pretend to be rich; others who are rich pretend to be poor."If you allow your expenses to increase at a slower rate than your earnings, and you save or invest the difference, you will become financially independent in your working lifetime."This is the key. I call it the "wedge." If you can drive a wedge between your increasing earnings and the increasing costs of your lifestyle, and then save and invest the difference, you can continue to improve your lifestyle as you make more money. Action Exercises2 things you can do1st imagine that your financial life is like a failing company that you have taken over. Institute an immediate financial freeze. Halt all non-essential expenses. Draw up a budget of your fixed, unavoidable costs per month and resolve to limit your expenditures temporarily to these amounts. THIS AND NO MORE> Carefully examine every expense. Question it as though you were analyzing someone else’s expenses. Look for ways to economize or cut back. Aim for a minimum of a 10 percent reduction in your living costs over the next three months. SACRIFICE2nd resolve to save and invest 50 percent of any increase you receive in your earnings from any source. Learn to live on the rest. This still leaves you the other 50 percent to do with as you desire. Do this for the rest of your career.Spending Fast- Pick one day a week where you will buy nothing. Nothing on Amazon at the gas station. Nothing. FIND WHERE YOUR MONEY IS LEAKING-STOP THE LEAKING#2 Way you can work towards financial freedom. BUDGET!!!! Re—Budget, RE-RE BudgetBe Patient its hard work. Luke 14:28 8“But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? 29Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you. 30They would say, ‘There’s the person who started that building and couldn’t afford to finish it!’Sell the car if the payments are too high. How much is the shiny metal worth if you can’t sleep well?Get rid of cable and buy an antenna(talk down comcast… got rid of dish)Get rid of monthly subscriptionsGym Membership you don’t use : Casinos; Lottery Tickets; Fastfood; Cigarettes; Big Gulps; Impulse purchases; Energy drinks, Grocery Junk, Eating out… Shop at Aldi. Look for sales. Use coupons. Only buy WHAT YOU NEED.Delayed GratificationEphesians 5:15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. The wise live disciplined lives. You will never have more money then you can handle. You have a natural level that you feel comfortable with that will only change by becoming uncomfortable and doing something different. Know how much $ you are planning to spend each week. Keep a weekly spending log that you keep track of everything you spend. When Emily & I were first married in our first apartment our trips to Walmart were killing us. When you go to get a $4 item and spend $54-$120 that’s not good. So we limited how often we went to Wallyworld. Have a weekly savings goal$$$. Ephesians 4:28 If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.Generosity is the natural way to defeat greed. Ephesians 5:3 – Greed Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. The things greedy people desire become their gods. Idolatry At times people lack $ because of greed… the inability to wait. 1 Timothy 6:17-19 Wealth is uncertain. 17 Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. 18 Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. 19 By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.Proverbs 3:9 Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.Live GenerouslyGenerosity is important. God says that he blesses the generous. I view my contribution to the church, missions, and charities as an asset or investment in the kingdom of heaven. I have seen God help me become wiser with less than 90% of my income. Generosity keeps me from greed. If I’m having problems being generous it’s not because I’m lacking $ it because I’m becoming greedy. Greed doesn’t always show up in the form of having money. Sometimes its using all of our money on what we think we need#3 GET OUT OF DEBT Proverbs 22:7 Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender.THEN DON’T GO BACK IN DEBT>>> Dave Ramsey approach pay off the smallest debt. Then snowball the next smallest and pay off the principle. . Romans 13:8 Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.WISDOM IS MORE VALUABLE THAN $2 Chron. 1:11-12 God said to Solomon, “Because your greatest desire is to help your people, and you did not ask for wealth, riches, fame, or even the death of your enemies or a long life, but rather you asked for wisdom and knowledge to properly govern my people— 12 I will certainly give you the wisdom and knowledge you requested. But I will also give you wealth, riches, and fame such as no other king has had before you or will ever have in the future!”Pick up Debt Thermometer, Dave Ramsey’s 7 Babysteps, Budget worksheet. Why Marriage? Why Kids?

Pastor Ben Poole

Description:Sermon / Preaching NotesReview of Be Bacon… slides, scripture, podcastStep One Be The Bacon: Die to Selfishness. Deut. 6:4-5Love the lord your God with all your heart soul mind and strength. You are a part of the kingdom of God. And you are now sharing in the inheritance of God. You have a new LEGACY!Why did God create families? Husband & Wife, Sons & Daughters. ****REGRETS YOULL NEVER HAVE VIDEO** How Marriage impacts our kids view of God. Whether you’re married or not it would be good to know God’s plan for marriage. Why do we have kids? Why do we get married?Your answer to these questions with change your outcome in these situations. Is it for selfish reasons?Have kids to continue the family name. (they have to perform)Then if they don’t perform we will just give up. If the ROI isn’t high enough we abandon. Discipline becomes difficult because we to want to pay the cost. Telling your daughter her dress is too short. Telling your son that he cannot speak to others that way. It becomes not worth the aggravation. We won’t work hard at marriage if it’s only about our happiness. Bridging the gap isn’t worth the effort. So why do we marry? Why do we Parent? In Gen. 1:2 God tells Adam and eve to multiplyJesus in Mark 10:6 reminds us of Genesis 5:2 He created them male and female. (God has a design for marriage but… Every Family is broken. (Religion can’t keep families together)Duet. 6 Teach God’s CommandsAdam & Eve -> Homicide in their family.Noah- Curses his son; David’s Son raises an army to kill his dad, Law & Religion & Fear were not enough to Keep families together. Malachi 4:6 points to Jesus. It says GRACE and Love are needed. It can’t just be fear. Marriage isn’t just about us. It’s a mirror of the Gospel for the world to see. Marriage is Worship to God!Parenting is Worship & Witness of GodBeing faithful husbands, wives, sons, and daughters points to Jesus and his sacrifice. But it isn’t easy. It’s not always fun. We need to have the Longview. ILLUSTRATION: My failure. didn’t do this well yesterday. Finalizing this message. Kids louder when you need something done. We don’t have to live in bitterness and anger of a family feud. You should view your family as a treasure that he’s asked you to steward and not a possession to be owned and controlled or manipulated. If we truly have become like bacon and put selfishness to death then… We have kids because God has given them to us. Be fruitful and multiply is not only fun in the creation of life but with the development. Psalm 127:3 Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him. We Marry because we glorify God through it. It’s more than just happiness. It’s God’s plan for family. It’s a witness to the world that God knows what he’s doing. Kids need security and the foundation of family. Marriage isn’t perfect but it’s worth fighting for. God wants our marriages to share the Good news! That God is in the family healing business. We always need the grace of God to continue in LOVE. If you’re a single parent build relationships with Godly married couples that your kids will see. And teach your kids to honor marriage. Marriage & Parenting is Hard Work! Prophecy about John the Baptizer and the work of Jesus. Malachi 4:6 Hearts will be Re-Engaged & HealedGod’s word tells us in Ephesians 5:31- Our perfect illustration for marriage is the church. And the Christian marriage is to be an illustration of God’s relationship w/ the church. What gets seen gets repeated. The greatest inheritance you can leave is a legacy of faith. Faith doesn’t mean an absence of fear. It means we have a trust in God that no matter what we are going to follow Jesus. (JESUS IS ENOUGH) Our belief in Jesus needs to determine how we work; love; have fun; relax; raise our family; get married; chose a career…..You’re not going to be here forever. (the begot verses) so and so and so… begin thinking beyond you. Kid’s want you not things, money or your success. Kid’s want their parents. The days are long and the years are short. From birth to 18 you have 940 Saturdays. 260 are already gone by 5th grade. You’re not going to be able to pick up and carry your kids when their legs are too tired. Kids & Parents. Ipad, Phone, at the restaurant or dinner table trains them that dinner is time for connecting with humans that are in front of you. Enjoy the seasons. Church sign. Capture memories not things. Don’t let your kids be projects to be perfected. Realize that your kids and grandkids are created in the image of God. Relationship must be the focus of discipline, training, and growing. Play together when the kids are young. They need to have fun together not just at sports or clubs. You want your kids to want to come home for time together and fun. ENJOY YOUR KIDS even when…. If fun only happens at soccer, boyscouts, or when you leave the house then they will not want to come back when they are older. Don’t give your life to a company that will move on the moment you die. Don’t let success get in the way of the legacy of success. You will be replaced at work. You can’t be replaced at home. You’re going to choose who to disappoint at times. Is the deadline more important or your family. Who do you matter to the most? Your kids will figure it out. Be fully present. Single moms and dads this is tough. Your energy is going to be run down. Don’t allow battles that didn’t go well determine the war. It’s not going to go perfectly but realize you are the very best parent they could have. Because you care and God has entrusted you with his child. Create a plan. (1x per week scheduled faith family night)Deuteronomy 6:4-9Impress them; talk while sitting, walking, lie down; get up; write them on your hands; foreheads; write them on your walls & gates. Everywhere you go teachable moments. Application: I had a professor who told me it was a sin to bore people with the bible. Family Time ( Make it Fun and schedule it (1x) a weekUse Sundays Sermon Text as a launching point. -What does this say?-Why do we need to know this?-Here is what you need to rememberYou cannot outsource training in the faith. Frozen Arms* Main Point: Help your children learn about what it means to be a servant (Mark 10:43–45) Preparation: You’ll need some of your kid’s favorite candy or cookies and a Bible. Tell your children that you have frozen their arms so they are not allowed to bend elbows or wrists. Place candy or cookies in the middle of the table and tell them they can each eat one. Without bending their arms, however, it will be impossible to serve themselves— so they must figure out how to serve one another to get the good stuff! When done, read Mark 10:43–45 and James 1:27 and explain that we are called to serve those unable to serve themselves—but the real blessing comes back to us.

Be The Bacon

Pastor Ben Poole

Description:God’s Plan for Faith, Family & Finances Be The BaconThe most important thing for your kids or grandkids isn’t safety, education, are they a good person, career, income, family, etc. 1.SoulThe most important thing is their soul!Where is their soul headed? How is your soul? You don’t have to duplicate. You can create. Bad dad; Bad mom; rough childhood; raised by families on TV; abused, neglected. Break the curse. Some of you have been told you are illegitimate; a mistake made at a point of weakness; that you are problems to be managed. You need to be made well so that you’re kids are well. You need to grow spiritually so that your kids have an example to follow. Deut. 5 lays out the 10 Commandments. We cannot honor the 10 Commandments without forgiveness and Grace. Salvation leads us to new pursuits and new desires. We must love with our heart, soul, and strength. Because I love God I’m compelled to obey him. I began obeying him. God loves me before I recognize him as father. We respond to God’s love, God chases us. Church, Prayer, Scripture and Obedience come from the response of his love. At salvation the Law of God becomes written on our heart. Duet. 6:4-5 Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.[a] 5 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. All your heart, soul and strengthThis is a love beyond just a decision. It’s a hunger a desire that comes from being with God. This can only come through salvation. You need the Gospel in your life. Duet. 6:7 You have to learn in order to teach from Love. What does loving God do to your relationships?2.Christ Centered HomeIn a Christ centered marriage you no longer expect your spouse to be your savior. That’s Jesus job alone. With your kids you don’t need them fulfill your unfulfilled dreams. And now you have the ability to forgive when people mess up. You can forgive because you have been forgiven of so much! Now instead of trying to change your husband to be perfect. Or your wife to stop or start…. Now instead of a romantic pedestal of Disney happily ever after perfection you have a God who is with you through the dark mysterious deep woods of life. Christ is the Center of your home and all your relationships. He is the filter that you see the world through. 3.#New Focus We want you to feel comfortable talking to your kids, grandkids, wife, and husband about God. What you do today will change your family for generations. You get what you are. So you need to be… a believer. Not 10%- Fully Committed.4.Be the Bacon.Question: In a bacon and egg breakfast, what's the difference between the chicken and the pig?Answer: The chicken is involved, but the pig is COMMITTED!Die to self. Salvation is killing the flesh and living for God the father. It’s never too late to adjust your destiny. Some of you are going to have to change what you’re doing. How you are living. How you evaluate and make decisions. It’s worth it!To Start God’s plan you have to start at step 5.#1 SALVATION are you committed?Philippians 3:4-11 NLT4 though I could have confidence in my own effort if anyone could. Indeed, if others have reason for confidence in their own efforts, I have even more! 5 I was circumcised when I was eight days old. I am a pure-blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the tribe of Benjamin—a real Hebrew if there ever was one! I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law. 6I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault. 7 I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. 8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ 9 and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. 10 I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, 11 so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!6.#DEATH TO SELFIEYou will not be able to live in God’s will and follow God’s plan without committing to it first. 2 Corinthians 5:13-17. 13If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit.14Either way, Christ’s love controls us.c Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life.d 15He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.16So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! 17This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!18And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 21For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

40 Day Prayer Challenge Day #1

Pastor Ben Poole

Description:The Fall of JerichoJoshua 6:1-201Now the gates of Jericho were tightly shut because the people were afraid of the Israelites. No one was allowed to go out or in. 2But the LORD said to Joshua, “I have given you Jericho, its king, and all its strong warriors. 3You and your fighting men should march around the town once a day for six days. 4Seven priests will walk ahead of the Ark, each carrying a ram’s horn. On the seventh day you are to march around the town seven times, with the priests blowing the horns. 5When you hear the priests give one long blast on the rams’ horns, have all the people shout as loud as they can. Then the walls of the town will collapse, and the people can charge straight into the town.”6So Joshua called together the priests and said, “Take up the Ark of the LORD’s Covenant, and assign seven priests to walk in front of it, each carrying a ram’s horn.” 7Then he gave orders to the people: “March around the town, and the armed men will lead the way in front of the Ark of the LORD.”8After Joshua spoke to the people, the seven priests with the rams’ horns started marching in the presence of the LORD, blowing the horns as they marched. And the Ark of the LORD’s Covenant followed behind them. 9Some of the armed men marched in front of the priests with the horns and some behind the Ark, with the priests continually blowing the horns. 10“Do not shout; do not even talk,” Joshua commanded. “Not a single word from any of you until I tell you to shout. Then shout!” 11So the Ark of the LORD was carried around the town once that day, and then everyone returned to spend the night in the camp.12Joshua got up early the next morning, and the priests again carried the Ark of the LORD. 13The seven priests with the rams’ horns marched in front of the Ark of the LORD, blowing their horns. Again the armed men marched both in front of the priests with the horns and behind the Ark of the LORD. All this time the priests were blowing their horns. 14On the second day they again marched around the town once and returned to the camp. They followed this pattern for six days.15On the seventh day the Israelites got up at dawn and marched around the town as they had done before. But this time they went around the town seven times. 16The seventh time around, as the priests sounded the long blast on their horns, Joshua commanded the people, “Shout! For the LORD has given you the town! 17Jericho and everything in it must be completely destroyeda as an offering to the LORD. Only Rahab the prostitute and the others in her house will be spared, for she protected our spies.18“Do not take any of the things set apart for destruction, or you yourselves will be completely destroyed, and you will bring trouble on the camp of Israel. 19Everything made from silver, gold, bronze, or iron is sacred to the LORD and must be brought into his treasury.”20When the people heard the sound of the rams’ horns, they shouted as loud as they could. Suddenly, the walls of Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites charged straight into the town and captured it.

The Mission of the Church

Pastor Ben Poole

Description:Acts 2:42-47The Believers Form a Community42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper[a]), and to prayer.43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity[b]— 47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.Matthew 28:16-20The Great Commission16 Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted!18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,[a] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

How Can I Have A Relationship With Jesus?

Pastor Ben Poole

Description:What does it mean to have a relationship with Christ?and how do we attain it?Is God with you? Is Jesus with you? Do you know Jesus? In relationships there must be two willing parties. 1. Jesus wants and loves you. John 3:16 2. In order to have a relationship you have to want it. Seeing Jesus once a week at church ain't going to cut it. Before I was married I lived alone. Your married into it now. You wake up. Hey Jesus. You get breakfast What's up Jesus......Some of us have a casual Acquaintance as a savior. While his relationship with us is to be "church"- wife. Jesus Groom. Ephesians 5:22-Relationship- husband and wife, Repentance brings relationship. Acknowledge your wrong. Allow Jesus to fix it. Communication + Time + adaptation = relationship. Holy Spirit brings life to this relationship. The evidence of this relationship is life change. Prayer or talking with God, listening, allowing our path to be adjusted. Growth after salvation-John 15:1-15 I am the vine. Relationship with Jesus brings 1. Fruit 2. Answers to prayer 3. Obedience 4. Acceptance of His love 5. Overflowing Joy 6. God is my friend. Dead branches on your tree We love Jesus We love one another. Moses or are you good no up the mountain yourself? Are you pursuing God? Take a picture with The Christian celebrity or live on leftovers. When was the last time you went up the mountain yourself. I can get distracted by stuff or tasks instead of seeking the literal presence of God. How close are you to Jesus? How much time do you spend with God. We get changed by the people we spend the most time around. Are you around God enough to become more like him. Don't allow other people's experiences be enough. You need to go here yourself. Gideon- I want to be sure you are with me. Paul I just want to know Christ. For me to live is Christ to die is gain.Religion and function or good works cannot save you. Invite people to have space and pray.

My Resurrection

Pastor Ben Poole

Description:John 5:24"I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.Mark 16:5-75 As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. 6 “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’ ”Luke 24:6-76 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”John 20:16-18 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.”She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”). 17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ” 18Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.Matthew 28:18-20 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”Acts 3:1515 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.

Foot Washing

Pastor Ben Poole

Description:Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet13 Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world and return to his Father. He had loved his disciples during his ministry on earth, and now he loved them to the very end.[a] 2 It was time for supper, and the devil had already prompted Judas,[b] son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. 4 So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him.6 When Jesus came to Simon Peter, Peter said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”7 Jesus replied, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.”8 “No,” Peter protested, “you will never ever wash my feet!”Jesus replied, “Unless I wash you, you won’t belong to me.”9 Simon Peter exclaimed, “Then wash my hands and head as well, Lord, not just my feet!”10 Jesus replied, “A person who has bathed all over does not need to wash, except for the feet,[c] to be entirely clean. And you disciples are clean, but not all of you.” 11 For Jesus knew who would betray him. That is what he meant when he said, “Not all of you are clean.”12 After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing? 13 You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. 15 I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. 16 I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. 17 Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them.

Fear Is A Liar #4

Description:Fear is a Liar2 Chronicles 7:14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.A Believers Guide to Persecution1.Expect it (Jesus got it we will too)2.Discomfort isn’t persecution (Pray for the persecuted church)3.Pray for your enemies. Daniel is often in trouble for trying to live a holy life. Salvation is free but not cheap. Jesus paid for it with his lifeWe accept salvation that’s freeBut we have to give up everything. Whatever feels right.Wherever your heart will take you. (Good people do horrible things)Daniel’s Life Summarized1.Exiled slave becomes ruler2.Miracles are done, dreams interpreted, friends escape execution, serves 3 kings and sees the writing of the hand of God. What the angel tells Daniel. How do we apply Daniel1.Replace Fear with Faith.a.Its not enough to get rid of fear. (Providence)b.God rules over everything he directs the path of history and future. 2.Be Humble (Give God credit)3.Have Courage to tell Hard Truths4.Ask forgiveness for your people/ nation Daniel 9:1-19 5.Respectful Defiance for the Truth of God6.Pray Hard and Consistently 9 It was the first year of the reign of Darius the Mede, the son of Ahasuerus, who became king of the Babylonians.[a] 2 During the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, learned from reading the word of the Lord, as revealed to Jeremiah the prophet, that Jerusalem must lie desolate for seventy years.[b] 3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and fasting. I also wore rough burlap and sprinkled myself with ashes.4 I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed:“O Lord, you are a great and awesome God! You always fulfill your covenant and keep your promises of unfailing love to those who love you and obey your commands. 5 But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations. 6 We have refused to listen to your servants the prophets, who spoke on your authority to our Presidents and Leaders and ancestors and to all the people of the land.7 “Lord, you are in the right; but as you see, our faces are covered with shame. This is true of all of us, including the people of Hamilton County and Indiana all of the United States divided near and far, wherever you have driven us because of our disloyalty to you. 8 O Lord, we and our Presidents, Leaders, and ancestors are covered with shame because we have sinned against you. 9 But the Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him. 10 We have not obeyed the Lord our God, for we have not followed the instructions he gave us through his servants the prophets. 11 Our country has disobeyed your instruction and turned away, refusing to listen to your voice.“So now the solemn curses and judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured down on us because of our sin. 12 You have kept your word and done to us and our rulers exactly as you warned. Yet we have refused to seek mercy from the Lord our God by turning from our sins and recognizing his truth.14 Therefore, the Lord has brought upon us the disaster he prepared. The Lord our God was right to do all of these things, for we did not obey him.15 “O Lord our God, you brought lasting honor to your name by rescuing your people from Egypt in a great display of power. But we have sinned and are full of wickedness. 16 In view of all your faithful mercies, Lord, please turn your furious anger away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain. All the neighboring nations mock us and your people because of our sins and the sins of our ancestors.17 “O our God, hear your servant’s prayer! Listen as I plead. For your own sake, Lord, smile again on your desolate sanctuary.18 “O my God, lean down and listen to me. Open your eyes and see our despair. We make this plea, not because we deserve help, but because of your mercy.19 “O Lord, hear. O Lord, forgive. O Lord, listen and act! For your own sake, do not delay, O my God, for your people and your city bear your name.”

Walking In The Spirit

Pastor Ben Poole

Description:Junk DrawerWhat should I do with these keys I don’t know what they go to? Put it in the Junk drawer. What does this go to? I don’t put it in the Junk drawer. Where are the scissors? Do we have any nails? DO we have any batteries? Check the drunk drawer. Now Picture your Junk drawer at home… Here is mine. What does yours look like? Your catch all basket maybe some of you have a junk closet, or garage….As we go through life we accumulate things. Many good things with purpose but we also get junk. Or once good things become junk. Moving away from things do you have stuff in your life that’s Junk? What would your lives Junk drawer look like? Maybe it’s storing some old anger. Some broken relationships… You have acquired some failures that you just can’t get rid of. Maybe there is some stuff you know you shouldn’t have because it’s not good for you. Like some old batteries that are leaking acid and corrosion all over everything else in your life. Someday… Someday you tell yourself you will deal with that drawer where you have shoved all the junk in your life. In fact maybe every New Year you get it out and throw that habit, that anger, that addiction, that sin, into the trash. Only to find it back in your drawer within a week. This Is The Year! This is the Year you get rid of it. And this is how it’s going to happen. Try hard to get rid of it. Like Gum you sat in.Like Gray hair. You can dye it but it’s coming back. People hide their junk. Some people are better at hiding it. They have organizers and shelfs and more drawer space. But that junk is still buried somewhere. Others don’t have enough room to hide it so everyone knows what kind of junk they carry. It’s just out in the open. Some of us even pay for a location to hide it every month. A storage unit. We pay rent for things we probably don’t need. It cost something to keep it hidden. It eats away at your soul’s bank account. It drains you slowly. Romans 7:15-20 Divide between your will and your actions. Law of Gravity (Air Plane)Flesh is where your sin resides. Flesh- The selfish nature that resides in each of us. The ability to be tempted means it’s there. It craves things. It craves gossip in the form of tabloids, the latest rant on Facebook, TMZ, or even negative talk about people in church, It craves gluttony in the form of 10 Christmas cookies, It craves lustful pictures or videos or books. It craves anger, It craves the addiction to pain pills, the drunkenness, It craves broken and twisted things. It craves the counterfeits of what God has made. The Holy Spirit- Gives power to remove the compulsions to keep those things in your junk drawer. When we try really hard… It just seems to get worse. When we say I got this. I’m going to whup this problem. It usually ends in failure and feeling depressed and defeated. Try harder go through 12 steps… Find this program. Etc. Let me give you a little break here. The temptation is common. Everybody here deals with temptation to sin. Wanting to isn’t the sin. If it seems that someone never thinks about or is tempted to sin it’s just not true. In fact Jesus was tempted. Paul was tempted. But there is a power and authority to resist sin. To disobey the flesh. Being a Christian doesn’t get rid of the flesh. The sinful desires. Zombie FleshCivil War going on Here’s why “WALKING IN THE SPIRIT “Galatians 5:13-1816So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. (Let’s make sure we have this right. Often we flip this verse and read. Don’t do what your sinful nature craves and then we will have the Holy Spirit guide us.)This is how I often think. If I can just get rid of this junk than I will be able to hear and obey the Holy Spirit wants me to do. WRONGFirst let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Escalator walking backwards Riding Up Walking UpFootball…. Why don’t they just give them two balls?Offense is opposed to Defense. They cannot compromise. They can’t be friends they are in direct opposition. To Each other. We cannot have two steering wheels in the car. FOOTBALL FB- HB Offensive line.God help me because I need you to guide me. Called to Offence advance the ball. So how do we know if we are walking in the Spirit. Concrete, Solid, Clear,Galatians 5:19-21Fruits of the SpiritGalatians 5:22-26Galatians 5:1616So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.19When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.22But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.
